This day tour combines rail travel, a scenic flight and the atmosphere of Ireland’s west coast.
The Aran Islands Day Tour with Scenic Flight begins at Dublin Heuston Station, where you board a morning train to Galway. The journey brings you through the centre of Ireland and into a city known for its coastal views. After some time in Galway, you continue to the small regional airport for your short flight to Inis Mór.
The flight offers a clear view over Galway Bay, with the Burren and Connemara visible on either side. On arrival, you can explore Inis Mór at a steady pace and visit one of the film locations used in the Oscar-nominated Banshees of Inisherin. The island is known for its long stone walls, traditional cottages and open Atlantic coastline. Each part of the landscape carries its own character and gives the day a quiet sense of place.
A guide will accompany you throughout, ensuring each stage of the journey feels simple and well organised. Your return flight brings you back to the mainland for the onward rail connection to Dublin.
It is a full day of culture and beautiful scenery!
Itinerary
Check in at 07:15 for the 07:35 train. Please meet your representative beside the Customer Service Desk at Dublin Heuston Station.
Your train departs at 07:35 and travels southwest through Dublin’s suburbs and into Co. Kildare. The route passes the Curragh and continues through Tullamore and Clara before crossing the River Shannon. As you approach Galway, you may catch your first view of Galway Bay. On arrival, you will transfer by mini-coach to Connemara Airport for the short flight to Inis Mór. Flight times may vary depending on numbers.
Irish is widely spoken on the island, although English is used with visitors. Your tour begins and ends at the island airport and includes visits to the Seven Churches, Dún Aonghusa and Kilronan village for lunch. Admission to Dún Aonghusa is not included.
After your return flight, you will be brought to Galway city centre before boarding the 19:20 train to Dublin. Arrival at Heuston Station is scheduled for 21:45.
Please note: If weather prevents flying, an alternative tour of Connemara will be provided and the difference refunded.
