Buckingham Palace was commissioned by King George IV originally though its history goes much further back. The area was initially established back in the Middle Ages, when the site formed part of the Manor of Ebury.

The site was used for different buildings by different people, including Henry VIII back in the 16th Century. However, once King George IV's planned works were completed, he never even had the chance to call it home. Queen Elizabeth II is the first English royal to call the Bucking Palace their home.
