The Experience
Head to Battery Park, grab your ticket and step onto the ferry as the city eases out of view.
The harbor opens up around you and the skyline hangs back for a moment, and then the Statue of Liberty shows up right on cue. It’s one of those views that doesn’t need any build-up.
NYC: Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island with Ferry is all about taking things at your own speed. On Liberty Island, you can wander the paths while the audio guide fills in the backstory, and the Statue of Liberty Museum gives you a closer look at how this landmark came to be. There’s no rush here, so it’s easy to drift between the views and the exhibits as the moment feels right.
When you’re ready, hop back on the ferry and head to Ellis Island. The pace shifts as you walk into the Immigration Museum, where the rooms feel quieter and the stories land closer to home. The audio guide walks with you through the restored halls, and it’s the kind of place that makes you pause without telling you to.
This experience includes:
- Round-trip ferry service
- Access to Liberty Island
- Access to Ellis Island
- Entry to both museums
Book your spot and let the harbor do the rest.
Important Information
Bring a valid passport or photo ID, and wear shoes you’re happy to walk in while you explore the islands. Pack water and dress for the weather, since much of the visit takes place outdoors and the conditions can change during the day.
Large bags and suitcases aren’t allowed on the ferry, and items such as drones or glass objects will be turned away at security. Minors can take part, although anyone under 17 needs to be with a responsible adult who is at least 25 years old, and children aged three and under can join free of charge.
Some departure times don’t include access to Liberty Island, so it’s worth checking this before you set your plans. You’ll receive a ferry schedule after booking, which helps you time your visit and decide how long to spend at each stop. If you want to explore both islands without rushing, it’s best to choose an earlier departure in the day and allow around four to six hours for the full experience.
Expect airport-style security screening before boarding the ferry, which can take time during busy periods, and be aware that entry lines at the Statue of Liberty can occasionally stretch beyond three hours.
